BECOMING A SUBSTITUTE

1. Apply Online

Complete and submit the online substitute application.

2. Application Review

Applications are reviewed based on district needs. Submission of an application does not guarantee an invitation to become a substitute.

3. Training Invitation

Selected applicants will receive an email with information regarding the next available substitute training session.

4. Fingerprinting

Substitute employees are subject to fingerprinting requirements. Montgomery ISD will provide instructions if fingerprinting is required.

QUALIFICATIONS

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

Minimum of 50 college hours from an accredited institution
Teaching certificate, if applicable

SUBSTITUTE AIDE

High school diploma, GED, or college transcript showing college hours

SUBSTITUTE NURSE

Minimum of 50 college hours from an accredited institution
Texas RN or LVN license

COMPENSATION

* Non-Degreed: Minimum of 50 credited college hours.

** Long-Term Rate: Begins after the 10th consecutive day of the same assignment.

Fingerprinting Requirements

Substitute employees are subject to fingerprinting requirements. If you are invited to become a substitute and have not previously been fingerprinted through the TEA clearinghouse, Montgomery ISD will email you instructions for completing the fingerprinting process.
