A Message from Dr. Mark Ruffin, Lone Finalist for Superintendent
Dear Montgomery ISD Community,
I am humbled and honored to be named lone finalist for Superintendent of Montgomery ISD. I am so excited to join this incredible school district, with its long history and tradition of excellence.
Throughout my career, I have partnered with many parents, teachers, administrators, and community members, focused on providing the best educational experiences for students. I have served as a classroom teacher, campus and district level administrator, and since 2018 as the superintendent of Normangee ISD.
Each of these roles has influenced my belief in the importance for leaders to actively seek out opportunities to serve their organization. My leadership style centers around communication and teamwork. I am a solutions-oriented and results-driven leader who listens first, and values input from others to achieve the best outcomes for students. I believe parents are the most important partners with schools, as we work together to create educational experiences and settings that set all students up for success.
I will never waver in my promise to make sure students thrive academically in safe and engaging learning environments. Every student should be challenged and prepared to leave our campuses ready for their next chapter – whether that’s a career, college, or military service to our country. This requires trust and true partnership as we work together to serve the most precious resource in our community—our children.
When my wife, Bay and I began discussing the opportunity to join the Montgomery community, a quality that immediately stood out to us was how this community remains rooted in its strong core values. Montgomery is a small town with high expectations, aspirational goals and traditional family values, all of which my wife and I wholeheartedly share. With that, I can’t wait to join Montgomery ISD as superintendent, and as a parent. My family is looking forward to making Montgomery our new home and enrolling our boys in Montgomery ISD schools.
In the coming months there will be opportunities for us to meet so I can learn about your vision and aspirations for our district, how you can be involved, and how I can hear and value the voices in our community. You will also see me at ball games, band concerts, performances, on campuses, at churches, and throughout our community. Please do not hesitate to come and introduce yourself. I am going to spend a considerable amount of time listening and learning - I want to hear what is great about this district and areas where growth may be needed. I look forward to getting to know everyone while working alongside the dedicated Board of Trustees and MISD staff members to move Montgomery ISD to the next level.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mark Ruffin
