Montgomery ISD is pleased to share information from the T3 Engagement Series, provided by the Texas Education Agency’s Emergent Bilingual Support Division.
As part of Title III Initiatives, the T3 Engagement Series offers virtual events featuring expert presenters from across the state of Texas. Families, parents, and community members are invited to participate and gain valuable insights.
All sessions are held virtually through Zoom. Interpreters will be available so participants can listen and learn in their home language. Up to eight languages other than English will be provided, based on registration requests.

Programs Available in MISD:
Dual Language Immersion One-Way Program
The dual language immersion one-way program is a bilingual
instructional model with minority language
(Spanish) speakers, only, with instruction in Spanish and English.
The dual language immersion one-way program in MISD is offered for
qualified students identified as an emergent bilingual student and is housed at Montgomery Elementary School.
Dual Language Immersion Two-Way Program
The dual language immersion two-way program is a bilingual
instructional model which integrates language minority and language
majority students, and provides instruction in the minority language
(Spanish) along with English.
The dual language immersion two-way program in MISD is offered for
qualified students and is housed at Montgomery Elementary School. It is a
partial immersion model for English speaking students and a bilingual
model for native Spanish speaking students. The program is designed to
teach students a second language in a natural way, through subject
content instruction and everyday classroom conversation. The goal is to
create biliterate students who can fluently write, read and speak
English and Spanish.
Each dual language classroom's student population is, ideally, made
up of 50% English speakers and 50% Spanish speakers. The dual language
classroom teachers are certified Bilingual teachers. Students must meet
criteria, and are considered for the program only if their parents
choose to have them participate.
Programa de Inmersión Bilingüe Unidireccional
El programa de inmersión bilingüe
unidireccional es un modelo de enseñanza bilingüe, dirigido únicamente a
hispanohablantes, con instrucción en español e inglés.
El programa de inmersión bilingüe unidireccional del MISD se ofrece a
estudiantes calificados, identificados como estudiantes bilingües
emergentes, y se imparte en la Escuela Primaria Montgomery.
Programa de lenguaje dual
El programa bilingüe de inmersión bidireccional integra a estudiantes de
orígenes mayoritarios y minoritarios, y ofrece instrucción en el idioma
minoritario (español) junto con el inglés.
El Programa de Lenguaje Dual en MISD se ofrece a estudiantes que
califican y se imparte en la Escuela Primaria Montgomery. Es un modelo
de inmersión parcial para estudiantes angloparlantes y un modelo
bilingüe para estudiantes hispanohablantes. El programa está diseñado
para enseñar a los estudiantes un segundo idioma de forma natural,
mediante la instrucción de las materias y la conversación diaria en el
aula. El objetivo es formar estudiantes bilingües que puedan escribir,
leer y hablar inglés y español con fluidez.
La población estudiantil en cada aula de lenguaje dual está idealmente
compuesta por un 50% de angloparlantes y un 50% de hispanohablantes. Los
maestros de aula de lenguaje dual son maestros bilingües certificados.
Los estudiantes deben cumplir con los criterios y solo se consideran
para el programa si sus padres deciden permitirles participar.
English as a Second Language, PreK-12th Grade
The English as a Second Language Program focuses on developing
proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing for English
learners. Instruction is TEKS based academic content, as well as,
language development. Instruction is differentiated according to
language proficiency levels while academically engaging students, and
encouraging development of the English language.

Inglés como segunda lengua, PreK-12º grado
El programa de inglés como segundo idioma se enfoca en desarrollar
destreza en escuchar, hablar, leer y escribir para estudiantes de
inglés. La instrucción es TEKS basó contenido académico, así como,
desarrollo de la lengua. La instrucción se diferencia de acuerdo a los
niveles de dominio del idioma, mientras que los estudiantes participan
académicamente, y el fomento del desarrollo de la lengua inglesa.
