MHS Anglers Take First at Lake Houston Open

MHS AnglersThe Montgomery High School Anglers Club represented MHS in stellar fashion by taking home the first place trophy at the Lake Houston Open! This victory in the final conference tournament for the 2016-17 season earned the Bears their third conference title in a row.
The teams of Trey Dawson and Derek Pietsch, Mason Hoke and Weston Stevens, and fishing solo for this event, Dylan Winders, had a combined weight of 24.85 pounds to claim first place in a field of 18 area high schools.
Team of Mason Hoke and Weston Stevens earned the Anglers of the Year for the conference, as they accrued more points than any other team in the conference by having consistently high finishes in all five events.
As an entire team for the season, the "Fighting Fishing Bears" were able to claim three first place trophies and two second place finishes. They easily outdistanced the other 23 high schools in the conference by a whopping 14 points over their closest competitor, the Woodlands High School.
