New substitute training sessions are held on an as-needed basis. Please note that an application does not guarantee an invitation.  If selected, you will be notified via email of the next available training session.

Qualifications of Substitutes
Substitute Teacher:
  • College transcripts showing a minimum of 50 college hours from an accredited school
  • Teaching certificate (if applicable)
Substitute Aide:
  • High School diploma, GED, or college transcript showing college hours
Substitute Nurse:
  • College transcript showing a minimum of 50 college hours from an accredited school
  • Texas RN or LVN License

*A minimum of 50 credited college hours
**Long term daily rate begins after the 10th consecutive day of the same assignment
Substitute Documents
Additional Information
Substitute employees are subject to fingerprinting in accordance with Senate Bill 9. The fingerprinting agency charges approximately $50.00 for the appointment. If you are invited to become a substitute for MISD and you have not been fingerprinted with the TEA clearinghouse, MISD will email the information for this process.
