In August of 2018, Montgomery Independent School District will open its second comprehensive high school, Lake Creek High School. This historic event is the culmination of years of fast student growth and the passage of a bond issue in May of 2015. The purpose of this webpage is to provide MISD students, parents, and stakeholders with all the resources necessary to be well informed about the opening of the new high school and the impact its opening will have on Montgomery High School.
The new campus is located on the west side of the road, off of Farm to Market Road 2854, approximately 2 miles south of the intersection of Highway 105 and FM 2854. The attendance boundary for LCHS was set in November of 2016 after a series of parent and town hall meetings. MISD began communicating the plan for how the new high school would be populated in September of 2017. Basically, all 9th thru 11th grade students who live in the LCHS attendance zone will attend LCHS in August of 2018. One exception is that students who will be classified as a junior (11th grade) in August of 2018 will be given an opportunity to transfer back to Montgomery High School to complete their high school education. This process, called an “intra-district transfer” is described in MISD School Board Policy FDB (LEGAL & LOCAL & EXHIBIT). The timeline to complete an intra-district transfer request for the 2018-19 school year is from March 20th until April 19th. The District will advertise and provide additional information about the intra-district transfer process closer to the stated timeframe.
Parents, students and stakeholders are encouraged to review the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document for information. Further, individuals may use the following email address to send questions directly to the District. Please allow 3-5 business days for a response:
