Lake Creek High School Helps Color the World!

LCHS Color the World

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (also known as the “Spanish National Honor Society”) is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese classes. The Lake Creek chapter recently took part in “The Pulsera Project”, a nationwide effort to raise funds for Central American artists for community projects, scholarships and workers' rights campaigns through the sale of beautifully designed and colorful bracelets (“pulseras”), purses, and other one-of-a-kind handcrafted artworks. Through this project, 100% of the money collected is sent directly to the program; and the Lake Creek students raised nearly $2100 toward that effort! With this amount, students sold enough pulseras to provide fair trade employment for three full months in addition to raising enough money to pay for over four years of college education for people in Nicaragua. Out of the nearly 2,500 schools the program works with, only a small handful have ever achieved this level of success. The project's motto is- Create a more ethical and colorful world!
