MISD Welcomes New Chief of Police

Welcome new Police ChiefChief Marlon Runnels will be joining the MISD family on Monday, April 3rd, and is scheduled to be sworn in during the MISD Administrators Council Meeting by Judge Wayne Mack. Chief Runnels comes to MISD with 15 years of law enforcement experience. Before beginning his career in policing, he honorably served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and was deployed to the Gulf in support of the Iraqi War conflict. His tenure in law enforcement includes time with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Galveston County Sheriff’s Office and the Conroe Police Department.

Throughout his career, Chief Runnels has amassed over 7000 TCOLE training hours with several specialized training certifications such as Mental Health Peace Officer, Hostage Negotiator, Field Training Officer, Police Bike Officer, ALERRT Train the Trainer Instructor, Master Peace Officer and, most recently, School Based Law Enforcement Officer Instructor.
