The Montgomery ISD Board of Trustees has named a lone finalist in its search for a new superintendent. The decision was announced in a special-called board meeting on October 10. The Board named Reagan Carter (Beau) Rees, 40, as the lone finalist. According to state law, the district will have to wait for 21 days before Dr. Rees can accept the position and for the board to finalize his selection. His tentative start date is January 2, 2012.
Dr. Rees is currently the Superintendent in Graham ISD, a 2550 student district, a post he has held for the last eight years. He has experience as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, elementary principal, high school principal and curriculum director. Dr. Rees attended Texas A&M where he earned a degree in political science. He received a masters degree in education from Abilene Christian and a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas Tech.
Dr. Rees said, “I am honored by the opportunity to serve in Montgomery. I look forward to working in the district and raising my family in the community.” Dr. Rees is married and has three daughters.
“We reviewed 75 applications from highly qualified individuals, and subsequently interviewed 6 finalists. We are honored to announce that the Board voted unanimously, 7 to 0, to select Dr. Rees as the lone finalist,” said Montgomery ISD Board President Trish Mayne.
Current Superintendent, Dr. Jim Gibson, announced his retirement after 5 years as MISD Superintendent.
