The local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) La Villita Chapter along with MIS sponsored a U.S. Constitution Poster Contest . As a way to celebrate this famous national document signed on September 17, 1787, students were invited to create a poster interpreting our 2011 theme “Our Constitution, Our Freedoms”. Twenty-one homeroom class winners were chosen in the preliminary round, and then those posters advanced to the final round for the overall school winners of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and honorable mention. Local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) La Villita representative, Sherron Kornegay along with Annetta Rose, Norman Sugg, and Judy Sugg helped judge the posters. Each class winner was given a small ribbon along with a Constitution bookmark. The winners were presented with a ribbon and a certificate. The winners’ posters will be displayed at the Stewart Branch Library in Montgomery, Texas, during the holiday break.
Winners are:
- 1st place: Faith Miller
- 2nd place: Parker Ward
