Art

Teacher:
Dottie Eichman
-
Art is a semester long
elective course that meets every day for 45 minutes. Classes
delve into drawing, painting, 3-d sculpture, weaving, and
photography through presentation of artwork.
-
Students work on drawing
projects which include still life, landscape, portraiture, and
perspective. Paintings are completed using watercolor and
temperas.
-
During the sculpture unit, classes work primarily with
papier-mâché and clay.
-
Art
history and art "masters" are introduced to students and the
elements of design are continually reinforced.
-
Sixth grade art classes participate in several special school
projects throughout the year. Students have the opportunity to
have artwork displayed in several exhibits through the school and
outside businesses.

-
No more singing and no more recorder, the
Montgomery Middle School Band is where the magic happens for
over 100 sixth grade students. This is the class where the
students can make as much noise as they want and not get into
trouble! They get to learn how to read music, make a sound
on their instrument, and then put it together to make music.
-
The students have to work hard,
practice every night, and do their other homework, but one of
the rewards of hard work in band is having lots of fun at the
concerts.
