Mrs. Lopez loves junior high life! She was a junior high English teacher for many years before she became an assistant principal. She also produced her previous school's yearbook for four years and had a fantastic time getting involved in all the school's activities. She is married to Montgomery High's Assistant Principal and has three children in Montgomery ISD. She attended Texas A&M and University of Houston to receive her Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Education and graduated Valedictorian of her college class with Summa Cum Laude honors. Mrs. Lopez wants everyone to know she loves being at MJH and says, "Montgomery Junior High is a great place to be!!"  

Assistant Principal: Melvin Shiflet

Hello, my name is "Coach" Shiflet and I have been at Montgomery Junior High serving as the campus athletic coordinator, teaching physical education and coaching football and track. I am presently an assistant principal. I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1978 with a BAT in education. I have been married for 25 years to Connie Shiflet who is the intermediate school music teacher and also director of the Music Makers. I have 2 children, Sam who is a student at Texas A&M and Lee who is a freshman at Montgomery High School. I also have 2 dogs named Rocky and Chico. I enjoy going to garage sales on the weekends and I also enjoy sports and dancing when I can.

MJHS Counselors

One of the counselor's duties is to plan and schedule all standardized testing such as the ITBS, Career Interest/Aptitude Inventories, TAKS, and norming samples for new tests as assigned by the state. The counselors also oversee the course selection and student placement into classes. In addition, they prepare our Honor Breaks, the Honor Roll Field Trip, and set up the Duke University Talent Search at our school. Mrs. Boswell and Ms. Sowell identify which students receive the President's Academic Awards and help with new referrals for special education. The counselor is always open for counseling with students and teachers.

Librarian: Nancy Boswell

Mrs. Boswell can always be counted on to recommend a good book or to help students and teachers locate information.  MJH students enjoy their library and use it well!

The Montgomery Junior High Office staff plays an important role here at the Junior High. Among their many duties you will find them answering phone calls from parents, sending messages to students and teachers and helping with special programs like Veterans’ Day, Curriculum Fair, and 7th and 8th grade awards. These ladies help parents, students and teachers have a successful year.

Diagnostician: Jan Bailey

Jan Bailey is the Educational Diagnostician who serves Montgomery Jr. High. Mrs. Bailey is available to answer questions about special education assessment and services provided to students who have an Individual Education Plan.

Speech Therapist: Linda Crews

Linda Crews serves the district as Speech Therapist on the 3 upper campuses. She is also a resource teacher for reading and English at the junior high which she claims as her home base.

Nurse: Cathey Lindquist

Cathey Lindquist is a registered nurse. Mrs. Lindquist handles everything from band aides to chest pains. If you are feeling poorly, please stop in to see her or even drop by to say "hi"!
