MES Special Classes

ART, Mrs. Hannum

The MES Art Department is very excited to be able to offer such a great program to our MES students. Students are experiencing tempera paints, watercolors, crayons, clay, and so many more exciting Art Forms. The students are encouraged to use their creativity to the best of their ability.

SCIENCE, Mrs. Henson

The science lab is open to all kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students. The students come to class once every week. In the lab, we learn about colors, shapes, odors, simple machines, force, push or pull, incline plane, rocks and minerals, different types of soils, and plants. The students learn a lot of new and interesting science facts throughout the year. Please feel free to stop by and visit.

MUSIC, Mrs. Johnson

All students in grades K-3 participate in weekly music class where we explore music through singing, moving, listening, playing instruments, creating, discussing, and performing. Students have the opportunity to perform every year in grade level performances at the MISD Students Performing Arts Center. Students in 3rd grade also study and play the recorder and may participate in the Montgomery Elementary 3rd Grade Chorus.

COMPUTER, Mrs. Fountain

The computer lab is open to all kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students. The students come to the lab once every week. In class they learn how to use a mouse and the keyboard. The children will also be learning computer basics, keyboarding, word processing, drawing & graphics, gadgets, presentation, spreadsheet, database, electronic reference, and internet. Students also have the opportunity to use the Prodikeys musical keyboard and Midisaurus software.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION,  Mrs. Jarecki

PE is a place to learn about living a healthy lifestyle! Our program at Montgomery Elementary for kindergarten through third grade consists of a variety of activities. Included in the curriculum is movement exploration, ball handling skills, rhythms, and lifetime games and sports. The emphasis is "Fun and Fitness" along with good sportsmanship in a positive and safe environment.
